Hands down favourite dumplings in the whole wide world has to be the pork and chive in spicy sauce. Their ‘hot’ is not to be underestimated, but even though it burns a little for me it’s well worth it. Dan dan noodles a nice accompaniment to the dumplings but not a must. Portion sizes are huge so always go for the Small if in doubt. Fell in love with the original Basu Lounge in Takapuna but I really rate their Browns Bay location more.
This place was great, surprisingly! The Dandan noodles, in particular, were outstanding – served generously and at an affordable cheap price. I opted for the dry noodles, and the sauce, neither too salty nor too mild, was quite addictive. The thick noodles blended perfectly with the sauce, creating a delightful taste. As a fan of Chinese food, I thoroughly enjoyed this dish. The dumplings and 锅包肉 (guōbāoròu) (I wasn't sure its English name - it is sweet and sour pork crispy version) were also yummy and satisfying. Highly recommended to those who love Chinese food and in Browns Bay.
Best noodle restaurant ever, the noodles were serve very big portion for such a cheap price. The noodles are thick, chewy and fresh that makes me can't stop eating despite I'm stuffed. I would recommend 10 out of 10 for people who likes Chinese food or people who wants to have a full meal for a very affordable price
Amazing Sichuan style noodles and dumplings. Food was served with a generous portion and inexpensive price. Relatively low wait time as well if you are after quick Sichuan style lunch/dinner you can not go wrong with this place. Must try the beef noodle and chicken dumplings. Do be careful with the spiciness level because it was even mild was HOT.
We packed some food to take home for Friday night's supper, and it was absolutely delicious. The crispy sweet and sour pork was perfectly crunchy without being greasy. The Sichuan-style spicy pot was flavorful but not overwhelmingly spicy, and the dumplings, as always, were our favorite staple. Having such a delightful supper on a Friday night was truly satisfying
It was recommended by a friend. Great service and lovely atmosphere. This restaurant is one of the best dining restaurants I’ve had in NZ. We ate Chef’s recommendations and enjoyed all our selections. The food tasted great. You can tell that the chef is very passionate about what he is doing. Food great, service great and environment is clean making the experience really special and really memorable.
